Inhaled Heparin

Oh my! What a roller coaster the last 3 months have been. I know one thing for sure, Plastic Bronchitis and me will never be friends! I just hate to see Hatcher struggle for breath. I have been doing some research trying to find someone somewhere that has experienced casts as large and aggressive as Hatcher's have been and came across an adult who explained it as feeling like a semi truck was sitting on top of him. There has been days when it looked like it would be Hatcher's last ..... but the little fighter in him just wont give up! He is tough, and even at his weakest manages to get enough strength to cough these huge casts up. After a pretty rough patch, increasing his TPA regimen with no relief we took him down to Primary Children's. It was decided by his team to try an experimental inhaled heparin .... and after a few days of adding Heparin to his long list of treatments he was clear once again! We were just excited to be able to get home in time to make it to his bull riding benefit! Once again thanks for all the calls, texts and prayers ..... they work! Keep it up Hatcher! He has been clear since we have been home and are thankful for the option of "rescue heparin" if we need it. Who knows what all the side effects will be to all these drugs, but as for now he is here boots, spurs and all!
